India opportunity session for Norwegian Companies:
The Nordics team hosted an “India Opportunities” webinar for introducing Norwegian industry and government stakeholders to the opportunities in India, as well as key sector opportunities. The session was organised in association with the Norwegian Business Association in India (NBAI) and was attended by member companies, as well as representatives from the Embassy. The webinar provided an introduction to the India growth story and included sector overviews from the shipping, infrastructure, energy and fisheries teams.
India Italy Startup Bridge:
India and Italy announced setting up a Startup Bridge, to improve knowledge sharing between start-ups of the two countries. It was announced by the Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister, Ms. Giorgia Meloni. By providing a platform for startups to connect, collaborate, and learn from each other, the startup bridge to drive innovation and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in the two countries.
India Italy Business Roundtable:
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and the Italian Embassy, New Delhi, India hosted the India-Italy Business Roundtable. The roundtable was co-chaired by Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India, and Mr. Antonio Tajani, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Italy. The roundtable witnessed participation from senior government representatives and prominent industry stakeholders representing sectors such as infrastructure, automotives, energy transition, defence, finance, telecom etc.
Italian Tech in India - Italian Know-How for India's Energy Transition and Manufacturing Growth:
Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI), with the support of the Embassy of Italy and Invest India, organised “Italian Tech in India - Italian Know-How for India's Energy Transition and Manufacturing Growth", a show of machineries and technologies produced by Italian companies in India. The ribbon cutting for the ceremony was done by Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Government of India, and Mr. Antonio Tajani, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Italy.
Swedish Business Criticality Call on Auto Sector:
The Auto and Electronic Vehicles team presented on the EV manufacturing sector, key central government incentive schemes, and the Production Linked Incentives for auto components in this month’s Swedish Business Criticality Call. The call is part of a monthly engagement between the Western Europe Team at Invest India and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce India (SCCI) to highlight key developments and reforms in the Indian economy. This month the focus was on the growing EV sector and the market and manufacturing opportunities existing in the industry, was especially appreciated by the attending members.
Iceland State Secretary Visit:
The Nordics team participated and chaired a session on the Iceland Business Outlook in India, with Ms. Varda Taneja, Vice Predident, Invest India chairing the session. The session was organised in participation with the Embassy of Iceland, on account of the visit of the Iceland State Secretary to India. The event saw participation and updates from key Icelandic companies in the country, and included an overview of the India growth story and sectoral opportunities in the Energy and Fisheries sector as well.
SEB Nordic CEO Summit
The Annual SEB Nordic CEO Summit was organised in New Delhi this year in March. The SEB (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken) is a prominent Nordic Bank with clients including the largest companies from the region, including Saab, AstraZeneca, ABB, EQT (Bearing Private Equity), SKF, Ericsson, Nokia etc. The event saw participation from over 100 chief experience officers, the largest Nordic delegation to ever visit the country and representing close to 30 per cent of the Nordic GDP, as part of this CEO Conference. The Invest India team was involved in the delegation planning, which included a speaker session hosted at the Red Fort by Carl Bildt (former Sweden PM), Zia Mody (Founder AZB Partners) and Mr. Tarun Das, Former Director General, Confederation of Indian Industry, followed by a tour of the historic monument. Mr. Deepak Bagla, CEO and MD, Invest India, also addressed the delegation in his session on “Harnessing the country’s potential” and highlighted the country's transformations to an endearing applause from the visiting delegation.
