Project Monitoring Group (PMG) is an institutional mechanism for expedited resolution of issues and milestone-based monitoring of projects with investments upwards of INR 500 Cr. PMG facilitates the organization of review meetings chaired by the Special Secretary/Joint Secretary, DPIIT, and Review Meetings chaired by the Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.  

Key Milestones 

  • The Project Monitoring Group organized a review meeting of 585 projects to be commissioned by March 2024 under the Chairpersonship of Mr. Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). In this review, 585 projects across 18 ministries were discussed with representatives from each ministry. Senior officials from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Railways, Power, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Jal Shakti among other ministries were present.
DPIIT Review Meetings

Review Meetings chaired by Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat 

  • Bihar Review: In this review, 55 issues across 101 projects worth INR 3,45,217.68 Cr were discussed. Important projects like the Patna Metro Rail Project, Buxar Thermal Power Project [1320 MW] and Third Railway Line between Patratu-Sonnagar [281 kms] were reviewed to facilitate prompt project completion. 

Bihar Review
  • Maharashtra Review: In this review, 80 issues across 138 projects worth INR 6,33,993.14 Cr were discussed. Some of the important projects like Sulwade-Jamphal-Kanoli Lift Irrigation Scheme, Mumbai Nagpur Jharsuguda Pipeline Project and Mumbai Trans Harbour Link were reviewed. 
Maharashtra Review
  • Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Rajasthan (Telecom) Review: In this review, 14 issues in 05 projects of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka, worth INR 88,213.81 Cr were reviewed. 

  •  Tamil Nadu Review: In this review, 19 issues in 36 projects of Tamil Nadu, worth INR 1,88,811   Cr were reviewed.  
Tamil Nadu Review
  • Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana (Telecom): In this review, 15 issues in 03 projects pertaining to Department of Telecommunications in Odisha, West Bengal, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, worth INR 34,993.17 Cr were reviewed.  

  • Jammu and Kashmir Review: In this review, 20 issues across 37 projects of J&K, worth INR 2,18,686 Crores were taken up for discussion. Projects like Jammu - Udhampur - Srinagar - Baramulla Rail Link Project, AIIMS Jammu and packages of Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway were reviewed to facilitate strict adherence to project commissioning timelines. 

Jammu and Kashmir Review
  •  Assam Review: In this review, 07 issues across 40 projects of Assam, worth INR 1,54,839.84 Cr were reviewed. Mega infrastructure projects like Doubling of New Bonggigaon to Kamakhya via Goalpara - 176 km, Northeastern Region Power System Improvement Project [NERPSIP], and North East Gas Grid were taken up for review to ensure expeditious issue resolution and avoid undue delays in project commissioning. 
Assam Review
  • Kerala (Telecom) Review: In this review, 02 issues in 01 project worth INR 26,316 Cr were reviewed.  

  • Madhya Pradesh Review: In this review, 76 issues across 81 projects of Madhya Pradesh, worth INR 2,29,470.25 Cr were reviewed. Nigahi Expansion [15 to 25 MTPA] Opencast Mining Project, Anuppur - Katni Third Railway Line [166 Km] and Itarsi - Nagpur Third Railway Line [280 km] were among some of the important projects taken up for review. 

Madhya Pradesh Review
  • Uttar Pradesh Review: In this review, 94 issues across 131 projects worth INR 5,03,577.21 Cr were reviewed in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Railways, and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to ensure timely issue resolution and project completion. 

  • Rajasthan Review: In this review, 15 issues in 60 projects of Rajasthan, worth INR 2,31,403 Cr were reviewed. Projects like Phulera-Digana Doubling and packages of Amritsar Jamnagar Economic Corridor were reviewed for resolution of critical issues delaying project progress.
