The AGNIi Mission is committed to the advancement of public research and development (R&D) in India. Public-funded research is one of the strongest drivers of innovation and building capacity for it will ensure effective strengthening of India’s innovation ecosystem.
AGNIi in partnership with CSIR-NCL (National Chemical laboratory) conducted a one-day capacity building workshop ‘Essentials of Technology Transfer.’ The workshop was targeted towards R&D managers from public-funded institutions and aimed at training and equipping them with tools and techniques to evaluate emerging technologies and structure tech-transfer deals.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. K Vijayraghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, with special remarks from Dr. Arabinda Mitra, Scientific Secretary, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to Govt. Of India. Nearly 100 R&D managers and scientists from over 85 public and private academic institutions and labs participated.
Comprehensive sessions on techno-commercial frameworks, revenue models, and transfer negotiations were taken by leading practitioners and professors in the country. These included Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram, former NCL (National Chemical Laboratories) Director, Dr. Premnath, Head - NCL Innovations, and Dr. Magesh Nandgopal, Head of the Technology Strategy Group at NCL.
Prakarsh Mishra, Nikita Kapoor, and Sushruti Tripathi from the AGNIi Mission also took individual sessions informed by their innovation management experience.
Owing to the overwhelming response received, the AGNIi Mission intends to organize a series of workshops centered around similar themes. This will encourage the commercialization of public R&D innovations and catalyze its conversations with industry adopters.
