Climatic Advantage
Bihar's climate falls within the tropical to subtropical region. The Himalayan mountains in the north have a significant bearing on the distribution of monsoon rainfall in Bihar. The rainiest months are July and August. Bihar benefits from fertile alluvial plains formed by the Ganges and its tributaries. This rich soil is ideal for agriculture, making Bihar a major producer of rice, wheat, pulses, and other crops.
Bihar experiences four distinct seasons: a hot summer (March-May), a monsoon season (June-September), a pleasant post-monsoon (October-November), and a cool winter (December-February). This seasonal variation allows for the cultivation of a wider variety of crops.
It shares its borders with the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal to the north, Uttar Pradesh in the west, Jharkhand in the south, and West Bengal in the east. The Bihar plain is divided into two parts by the river Ganges, which flows through the middle from west to east. Bihar has notified a forest area of 6.8% of its geographical area.
