Climatic Advantage
With its strategic location and diverse climatic conditions, the climate in West Bengal varies from tropical savanna in the southern portions to humid subtropical in the northern regions of the state.
West Bengal has five major seasons throughout the year. For a brief period, the northern part of West Bengal experiences a short spring, followed by the summer season from March to June, during which temperatures range from 26°C to 43°C. The delta region experiences excessively humid weather, while the western highlands expect dry summers. The rainy season extends from July to September, with an average rainfall of 125 cm in the northern and western plateau regions. The beginning of October marks the beginning of the autumn season till the middle of November, and skies are clear with comparatively low and pleasant temperatures. The winter season is experienced from mid-November to February, and temperatures are usually low, ranging from 10°C to 19°C. The Darjeeling Himalayan region sometimes witnesses harsh winters with snowfall in some parts of it.
