About the Department
Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department of Promotion for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.
Financial Investors Initiative is a team set up to facilitate the greater allocation of capital to India by Limited Partners and increased deployment by General Partners. The team works with investors to identify investment opportunities, undertake policy advocacy, and facilitate the resolution of issues at different stages of investment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and execute Investor Engagement Strategy:
- Design and execute strategies to engage with foreign institutional investors globally, including sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance companies, and asset managers inclined towards Fixed Income instruments
- Examine and develop new areas of product growth through independent self-guided research, and interactions with clients, JPMorgan/Bloomberg trading desks, research professionals and technology teams.
- Develop account strategies with clear roadmap and KPI’s for growth of investments into India and execute to that.
- Promote Investment Opportunities:
- Showcase India's investment climate and opportunities across various sectors to institutional investors
- Understand risk mitigation strategies while monitoring global credit market trends and investor sentiments to anticipate investment opportunities and challenges.
- Facilitate Investment Proposals:
- Work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to develop investment proposals and facilitate the investment process for institutional investors.
- Provide end-to-end support to investors, including investment facilitation, project implementation, and aftercare services.
- Sector Expertise and Strategy Development:
- Understand the FII/FPI sector and its pain points, to understand the accurate value addition in terms of the facilitation process, while driving increased capital allocation through the debt market
Key initiatives taken by the FII team for promoting Institutional investment are as follows:
- Identification of investment avenues aligning with investors’ interests and their thesis
- Strategizing research for building India's investment strategy
- Core understanding of investment advisory & financial analysis
- Support for obtaining requisite permissions and clearances
- Aftercare through issue resolution with support from regulatory bodies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- At least 7~10 years of experience in institutional investor engagement, Equity Research, debt market and financial analysis, strategic execution or other roles within the financial domain.
- Strong understanding of yield trends, aggregate indexes, fixed instrument benchmarking, institutional investor behaviour, and investment strategies on a global scale for country-to-country comparison
- Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with institutional investors and closing investment deals.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Experience in project management and cross-functional team collaboration.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
