Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency of the Government of India, under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The agency serves as the first point of contact for investors exploring India as a business destination. Invest India is responsible for numerous key government initiatives including Startup India, AGNIi, One District One Product, Project Monitoring Group, and Waste to Wealth among others.  

About Startup India: 

Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India intended to catalyze startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. Since the launch of the initiative on 16th January 2016, Startup India has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers. 

Role Summary:

The candidate will play a pivotal role in driving strategic alliances and partnerships to promote and strengthen India’s startup ecosystem. The candidate will lead efforts to foster collaborations with Central Ministries, CPSUs, corporates, unicorns, soonicorns, and industry associations to create long-term programs and engagements. The role demands high-level stakeholder engagement, business development, cross-sectoral coordination, and strategic planning to drive the growth of India's startup ecosystem.

The candidate will also support the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on policy facilitation, scheme development, and ecosystem strengthening efforts. The individual will act as a bridge between startups and key ecosystem stakeholders, ensuring timely execution of initiatives and policy support, while managing high-pressure deadlines

Key Responsibilities

  • Forge strategic alliances with Central Ministries, CPSUs, unicorns, soonicorns, and private sector partners to enhance the startup ecosystem.

  • Conceptualize, design, and manage incubation and innovation programs with a focus on prototyping, scaling, market access, and capacity building for startups.

  • Facilitate partnerships with corporates, incubators, accelerators, and industry associations to create sector-specific support programs.

  • Build capacity and enable market linkages for startups through mentorship, funding access, and technical support.

  • Support in providing inputs for policy development, scheme design, and implementation of sectoral reforms in collaboration with DPIIT to create a conducive startup environment.

  • Lead industry consultations and negotiate partnerships to unlock funding, mentorship, and technical support for startups.

  • Monitor and evaluate the outcomes of programs and partnerships, tracking impact metrics and ensuring effective use of resources.

 

As part of other projects, the Candidate is also expected to:

  • Handhold startups and Government departments in entrepreneurial subjects to create a conducive startup ecosystem

  • Provide support to DPIIT officials for formulating policies, schemes, measures etc.

  • Address ad-hoc requests from DPIIT, such as preparation of reports, briefs, etc.

  • Resolve queries and grievances of startups and other stakeholders in stipulated time

  • The role requires regular travel (short trips) to assist various stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, Policy or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • 3-5 years of experience in industry partnerships, program management, startup ecosystem development, or stakeholder engagement. Prior experience in consulting, corporate strategy, or government advisory roles will be a plus.

  • Experience working with Central/State Government bodies, CPSUs, unicorns, soonicorns, and industry associations is preferred.

  • Experience in developing high-impact partnerships and leading cross-sectoral collaborations

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Experience in policy facilitation and/or project management with State/Central Government is preferred

  • Proven ability to manage high-pressure, deadline-driven projects with precision
