About the Department
Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.
The Data team provides insights into various business functions at Invest India and assists in the research and quantification of targets, resources, and internal processes for different State and sector teams. The team develops reports with actionable insights that assist various teams on a one-time or periodic basis at Invest India.
Key Responsibilities
- Using automated tools to extract data from primary and secondary sources.
- Developing and maintaining databases, and data systems – reorganizing data in a readable format.
- Performing analysis to assess the quality and meaning of data.
- Using statistical tools to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns and trends in complex data sets could be helpful for the diagnosis and prediction.
- Analysing local, national, and global trends that impact both the organization and the industry.
- Preparing reports for the management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
- Working with programmers, engineers, and management heads to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies.
- Preparing final analysis reports for the stakeholders to understand the data-analysis steps, enabling them to take important decisions based on various facts and trends.
Qualifications
Knowledge of programming languages, especially:
- Python: Libraries like pandas, numpy, and scikit-learn are essential for data manipulation and analysis.
- R: Another powerful language for statistical analysis and data visualization.
- JMP Tool will be a plus
- Knowledge of database systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL.
- Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Word to create interactive dashboards and reports.
- Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc) will be a plus.
Other:
- High level of creativity, critical thinking as well as the ability to use data-driven insights to write better material.
- Deep interest in writing with a strong commitment to timelines, accuracy, and professionalism.
- Great Market research, organizational, and learning skills.
- Ability to work on deadline on multiple projects.
We’re looking for someone with at least 2+ years of experience in a position monitoring, managing, manipulating, and drawing insights from data, and someone with at least 1 year of experience leading a team.
