Gujarat is recognized as an “Achiever” among the coastal states by DPIIT in Logistics Ease (LEADS 2023).

Gujarat has been a hub of trade and commerce for over 5000 years when the port of Lothal connected the then India to the world. Today, driven by the entrepreneurial Gujarati spirit, the State acts as the world’s gateway to opportunities in India. 
 
The State has 49 ports, including 1 major port and 48 non-major ports which handle 40% cargo of the entire country. It also has 19 operational airports, including 4 international airports. And the share of Gujarat in the total exports stands at the number 1 position with 33.55% of total exports of the country.

Gujarat makes its mark as the Green House Capital of the world. Diamond Research and Mercantile City - A Smart City being developed close to the diamond capital of India – Surat, to promote diamond trading from Gujarat at an estimated project cost of INR 1.25 Lakh Cr. Spread over 2,000 acres, DREAM City will house an International Diamond Trading Hub and a Diamond Bourse.

All across the state, GIDC has 224 industrial estates. Additionally, the state government has announced the launch of 15 new industrial estates and parks to target different sectors such as Agro and food processing, pharmaceuticals, ceramics etc.

Gujarat has the better business and investment opportunities; There are currently 21 operational Special Economic Zones (SEZs) with 26 SEZs with formal approvals, 8 notified Special Investment Regions (SIR) in Gujarat. Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) provides further impetus for industrial growth in Gujarat as 38% of the corridor lies in the state.

Gujarat International Financial Tec-City (GIFT City) in Ahmedabad is the country’s first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) that caters to customers outside the jurisdiction of the domestic economy.

Food Processing

Gujarat boasts of more than 30,000 food processing units, 340 cold storages and about 104 MPEDA-approved fish and fishery product processing establishments

The state has the presence of 52 dairy plants. During the year 2022-23, per day 280.90 lakh litres of milk was procured from 22 cooperative dairy unions whose per day milk processing capacity is 318.59 Lakh liters per day. The state is divided into 7 sub Agro-climatic zones and 3 Agri-export zones.

Automobile and Auto-Components

Gujarat contributes 9% to India’s output of transport equipment. The state has established auto-clusters in Ahmedabad-Sanand, Mandal Becharaji, Hansalpur–Vithalpur, Vadodara-Halol and Rajkot

The state’s stronghold in heavy and light engineering sector complements the existing automobile industries in the state. Gujarat has emerged as a top automotive manufacturing hub in the world and is home to India’s first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant.

The state has sound automotive clusters comprising of auto components and ancillaries manufacturing facilities near Rajkot and Ahmedabad. A Japanese industrial zone has been set up in the Sanand-Mandal-Becharaji Investment Region.

Gujarat is well connected to the rest of the country and has port connectivity making it an ideal export hub.

Gujarat ranks first in India’s chemical and petrochemicals exports. The state has India's first Petroleum, Chemicals & Petrochemicals Investment Region for manufacturing of petroleum products, chemicals and petrochemicals

The state accounts for 62% of India’s petrochemical production, 30% of other chemical production. Gujarat share in exports of chemicals and allied products in 2023-24 was ~65%. The state is also the major producer of bio-fertilizers, seeds, urea and other fertilizer. World’s Largest Grassroot Oil Refinery is located at Jamnagar.

Gujarat is known as the “Manchester of the East and Denim City”. Gujarat's 6% of total Industrial Production comes from textile industry. It is the largest producer (35%) and exporter (60%) of cotton. With a contribution of 65 to 70% to India's denim production, Gujarat is the largest manufacturer of denim in the country and the third largest in the world. is the third largest denim producer in the world. It offers India's 15% textile exports.
